Health and Sanitation Day

“A Fragrant Dimbulagala through Clean Cities” – Dimbulagala Pradeshiya Sabha

In line with the implementation of Local Government Week 2025,
the Dimbulagala Pradeshiya Sabha organized a “Health and Sanitation Day.”
The main objective was to raise awareness among the public in towns and marketplaces
about cleanliness, waste separation, and health practices.

A new “Solid Waste Collector Point” was handed over for public use
in the center of Aralaganwila town,
featuring a system that allows separate disposal of glass, plastic, and paper.
This is considered an important step toward implementing the 3R concept (Reduce – Reuse – Recycle)
at the local level.

Officers of the Civil Security Department (CSD), the Sabha’s
technical team, shop owners, and volunteers
jointly conducted a cleaning program covering streets, parking areas,
drainage systems, and main roads.
They also carried out activities such as removing waste from difficult areas
and clearing blocked waterways.

School students in the area were given a live awareness session on environmental health by officials,
and under the theme “Let’s Keep Our City in Order,”
student groups also joined the street-cleaning campaign.

Through this Health and Sanitation Day,
the Sabha successfully enhanced public awareness
on maintaining a clean and healthy environment in Aralaganwila town.
