🌉 Kotaliew Bridge Renovation – Fulfilling the Hopes of the People! 🌉

Located on the main road connecting the Polonnaruwa District to the city of Batticaloa,
the Kotaliew Bridge and Gallalla Bridge had remained in a dilapidated condition for decades,
causing daily difficulties and dangerous conditions for the people using the route.

As a solution to this long-standing issue, under the “Path to Revival” road development project,
the bridge widening and reconstruction work ceremonially commenced on October 1, 2025,
with the blessings of the Most Venerable Maha Sangha.

A total of LKR 296,043,109.93 has been allocated for this construction,
and the project is expected to be completed before the end of 2026.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Housing Development T. B. Sarath and
Member of Parliament Sunil Rathnasiri, with the participation of
Dimbulagala Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Gayan Chathuranga, Mayor Lalith Thissa Kumara, the Secretary, Local Council Members,
Polonnaruwa District Council Chairman and Members, the Mahaweli B Zone Project Manager, government officials,
and a large gathering of residents.

This new bridge will provide safe, faster, and more convenient transportation for the public
and open new doors for economic, social, and cultural development across the Polonnaruwa–Batticaloa road corridor.
